ORANGE COUNTY

Orange County, California is a culturally unique, artistically rich and predominantly affluent melting pot.  A coastal paradise named for the Orange Groves that used to prosper throughout it’s communities and led to it’s early economic growth.  The orange groves are now confined mostly to the foothills of Irvine Ranch and Santiago Oaks wilderness areas due to the counties economic transition from agriculture to aerospace, manufacturing and high-tech  economic industries.  Part of the burgeoning “Tech Coast” of California (with Oracle, Broadcom and Google located in Irvine), there are many Fortune 500 companies located within close proximity to the coast.

Orange County’s always sunny, temperate “Mediterranean” climate and 42 miles of year-round beaches attracts millions of tourists annually.  Divided into North Orange County and South Orange County following the county’s natural diagonal orientation along the coast – a cultural and demographic distinction further perpetuated by the popular television shows The OC, The Real Housewives of Orange County and Laguna Beach.  However, residents are quick to point out “the Real OC” is so much more than what is depicted in the media via television and reality shows.  Hollywood’s version of this “Southern California Riviera” doesn’t do true justice to it’s laid back, easy going lifestyle.

Famous for its tourism and home to theme parks Disneyland, Disney’s California Adventure Park in Anaheim and Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park, Orange County is also known for it’s  culture.  An active community of art florishes here, along with ballet and opera at the Segerstrom Center of the Arts, Pageant of the Master’s in Laguna Beach and many community playhouses.

Southern California surf culture is prominent in the County’s beach cities.  Laguna Beach is a hot spot for sunbathing and surfing; Huntington Beach is nicknamed “Surf City, U.S.A.” and is home to many surfing competitions. “The Wedge”, at the tip of The Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach is one of the most famous body surfing spots in the world.

Visitors from around the world flock to the coastal resort towns of Laguna Beach, Corona del Mar and Newport Beach each year.  With seven miles of beautiful tranquil beaches, Laguna Beach is a haven for rest and relaxation. You can feel the sea breezes as you walk downtown, browsing the quaint Laguna Village shops, boutiques and world class art galleries.
